Equinox

The Equinox scale is a hexatonic minor scale. The root note on the Ding, followed by the minor 3rd and perfect 5th on the lower register emphasize the minor mode of this scale. The absence of the fourth degree is something several handpan scales have, possibly to avoid the tension of the related major supertonic chord towards the dominant of the parent major scale. This way, the minor mode is clearly stated, keeping all the fundamental relation between the notes.
Being a minor scale, is easily compared with the Aeolian, Integral, Mystic and Kurd scales, all flavors of the same mode. The sensation of this version is its strong determination over the dark and dreamy, minor sensation, while opening towards major progressions in the right balance – an equinox – between the two possibilities.
